Afe Babalola seeks Dele Farotimi disbarment, petitions LPDC

A petition has been filed with the Legal Practitioners Disciplinary Committee, calling for the removal of prominent lawyer and human rights advocate, Dele Farotimi, from Nigeria’s legal registry.

The petition accuses Farotimi of breaching multiple provisions outlined in the Rules of Professional Conduct for legal practitioners.

A representative from the Afe Babalola law firm in Ibadan, speaking on condition of anonymity, emphasized that the action is not aimed solely at Farotimi but reflects a broader effort to uphold the legal profession’s integrity.

“This is about safeguarding the public’s trust in our justice system,” the source explained.

“Failing to address such issues risks eroding the public’s confidence in legal practitioners.

“Ethical standards are not optional—they are our collective responsibility.

“Allegations of misconduct cast a shadow not just on one individual but on the entire legal community.”

This development highlights the ongoing efforts to enforce ethical practices and protect the judiciary’s reputation in Nigeria following the legal battle between Afe Babalola and Dele Farotimi.
