Ore Fatal Motor Accident: Police Warn Against Falsehood
The Ondo State Police Command has cautioned the public against spreading false information following a tragic motor accident on December 19, 2024, that claimed the lives of three police officers.
According to reports, the accident occurred along the Ore highway near Kajola, when a DAF truck heading toward Lagos lost control, swerved off its lane, and collided with a police vehicle traveling in the opposite direction.
The crash resulted in the death of three police officers, while another officer who sustained injuries is currently recovering in a hospital.
In addition to the officers, a woman, who was on the highway attending to personal errands, was also killed in the crash. Her identity has yet to be disclosed.
The police command has expressed deep disappointment over false reports circulating online, particularly by certain individuals who incorrectly claimed that the woman involved in the accident had been a suspect arrested by the officers.
The police emphasized the need for accurate and sensitive reporting, highlighting that the spread of such misinformation disrespects the memory of the deceased and adds to the grief of their families.
The command called on journalists and the public to be more responsible when reporting on sensitive incidents like this one.
They urged that reports should focus on the facts, rather than relying on misleading or inaccurate details.
