A police officer of the Ekiti State Police Command on Thursday accidentally shot a woman dead in Ado-Ekiti.
According to reports, the tragic incident occured opposite an Okela police station when the woman went to visit her husband who was detained at the station.
It was gathered that an officer at the command accidentally discharged his rifle and hit the woman who was standing at the front a salon opposite the station and was pronounced dead after being rushed to the hospital.
When contacted, the Ekiti State Commissioner of Police, AIG Akinwale Adeniran confirmed the incident, saying the officer has been disarmed and detained for interrogation in line with the police act.
