The FCT Police Command has arrested a notorious gang leader, Abubakar Idris, also known as Nishi, and his accomplices for the murder of Ibrahim Danfulani over a disputed marriage proposal.

According to a statement by the command’s spokesperson, SP Josephine Adeh, on Monday, the incident which occurred on November 27, 2024, was triggered by Nishi’s frustration over Ibrahim’s plans to marry a woman in whom Nishi had made significant financial investments.

Investigations revealed that Nishi and two accomplices, armed with knives, launched a brutal attack on Ibrahim Danfulani, leading to his death.

Adeh added that the gang stole 18 cows belonging to the victim, allegedly as compensation for Nishi’s perceived financial losses.

Adeh said, ‘’In a dramatic turn of events, Nishi, who had fled the scene of the crime, was trailed and arrested in Nasarawa State. He was caught while planning on recruiting new gang members to execute his sinister plot to return and kill the woman. The swift and coordinated efforts of the FCT Police Command, in collaboration with residents of the Agaita community in Karu, led to the successful arrest of all suspects, who are now in police custody and will face prosecution to ensure justice is served.’’

The police reassured the public of their commitment to safeguarding lives and property, urging residents to report suspicious activities or criminal elements to the nearest police station or via the command’s emergency lines: 08061581938, 08032003913, 08028940883, CRU: 08107314192, PCB: 09022222352.
