The Kaduna Electricity Distribution Company has restored power supply to Kaduna and all its franchise states.

The firm has also promised to review its past actions.

The decision was reached after the state governor, Uba Sani, convened a meeting with both the management and workers on Friday.

Recall that the labour unions of Kaduna Electric embarked on an industrial action last Sunday.

This followed the decision of the management to sack 444 workers, thereby plunging Kaduna, Zamfara, Sokoto and Kebbi states into darkness, following power outage.

At the end of the meeting, Mr Sani promised to be the ‘guarantor’ as he would ensure fairness to both sides after they agreed to meet and take a joint decision.

The resolution noted, “The unions praised the governor for his intervention. They also commended the management ably led by Dr Umar Abubakar-Hashidu, for moving Kaduna Electric forward.’’

The unions also posited that the management was operating under stringent conditions, given the prevailing economic situation in the country but promised to help it to succeed.

The parties also maintained that both the firm’s management and the labour unions were partners in progress, adding,” what happened was as a result of a breakdown in communication.”

The meeting also noted that there must be give-and-take on the side of both the management and labour to amicably resolve the dispute.

The resolution was signed by the company’s Managing Director, Abubakar-Hashidu, company, the Vice President (Distribution) of National Union of Electricity Employees, Wisdom Nwachukwu and the Deputy President (North) of the Senior Staff Association of Electricity and Allied Companies, Rilwanu Shehu. Other union members that signed the resolution included the Deputy President (North), Muhammad Musa, and the Deputy Secretary General (North), Haruna Tijani.

The Managing Director of Kaduna Power Supply Company, Idris Ahmed-Idris, also signed the resolution.
