The Ogun State Police Command has intercepted a group of young individuals found in possession of dangerous weapons while traveling in a truck.

According to the command’s spokesperson, Omolola Odutola, the group was apprehended on Saturday by a police team led by Commissioner of Police, Lanre Ogunlowo. The interception occurred along several locations, including Eledumare, Bamboo 1 & 2, Fidiwo 1 & 2, Foursquare, Alapako, and Onigari—areas within Ogun State and its border with Oyo State.

In a statement, Odutola revealed that the group could not provide a clear destination or a satisfactory reason for their movement.

Acting on suspicion, the police commissioner ordered a thorough search of their belongings, which led to the discovery of weapons such as daggers, knives, cutlasses, and suspected charms.

“Acting on his professional instincts, he ordered a search of their persons and belongings, leading to the recovery of dangerous weapons, including daggers, knives, cutlasses, and suspected charms,” Odutola stated.

Following the discovery, the commissioner directed that the individuals be detained and profiled. He also instructed that those found guilty of any criminal offense be swiftly prosecuted to ensure justice is served.
