Lagos Judiciary grants one-week easter break for staff
The Lagos State Judiciary has approved a one-week holiday for its staff in observance of the 2025 Easter celebration.
This was disclosed in a statement released on Sunday by the Acting Chief Registrar, Tajudeen Elias. According to the statement, Chief Judge Kazeem Alogba sanctioned the break, which will take place from April 18 to April 25, with judicial workers expected to resume duties on April 28.
Regarding urgent cases, the statement clarified that judges would handle emergency applications linked to cases already assigned to them.
For matters without prior assignments, a designated judge will oversee the proceedings.
Additionally, the judiciary referenced Order 49, Rule 4, which allows urgent cases to be heard during the holiday, provided that the requirements outlined in Order 49, Rule 5, are met.
