Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara, has vacated the Government House in Port Harcourt, along with his family and security personnel.
According to a reliable source who requested anonymity, the governor left the premises early Wednesday morning. Although security presence at the Government House remains minimal, the two Armoured Personnel Carriers deployed on Tuesday night are still positioned outside the building, accompanied by a few operatives.
Despite the development, normal activities continue across Port Harcourt and surrounding areas.
As of 12:50 p.m. on Wednesday, Vice Admiral Ibokette Ibas (retd.), who was appointed by President Bola Tinubu to oversee the state under emergency rule for the next six months, had not yet officially taken office.
However, preparations for his arrival were underway.
Our correspondent observed about 15 soldiers stationed within the Government House premises in anticipation of his assumption of duties.
