A 65-year-old man, John Akinola, was brought before an Ikorodu Magistrates’ Court on Tuesday over allegations of stealing machine parts valued at N320,000.

The defendant, whose residential address was not disclosed, faced a single charge of theft.

He, however, pleaded not guilty.

According to the prosecution, led by Inspector Adegeshin Famuyiwa, the alleged crime took place on March 11 at around 10:00 a.m. at Still Water Dredging Company, located in the Oreta area of Igbogbo, Ikorodu, Lagos State. Akinola was accused of stealing a chain block machine, a kick starter, and an alternator, all belonging to the company.

The prosecution stated that the alleged act violated Section 287 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015.

Presiding over the case, Magistrate A.O. Ogbe granted the defendant bail set at N200,000, with a surety required in the same amount. The case was then adjourned to April 3 for further mention.
