Nobody can stop me from coming home – Natasha defies kogi govt’s ban

Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan, representing Kogi Central Senatorial District, has asserted that nothing and no one can prevent her from visiting her hometown in Okehi, Kogi State, despite the ban on political rallies and gatherings imposed by Kogi State Governor Usman Ododo.

In response to the proclamation, Akpoti-Uduaghan made it clear that she had every intention of attending the Sallah celebrations as planned.

She emphasized her roots, stating that she is an Ebira woman, the daughter of the late Jimoh Abdul Akpoti, and firmly believes she has every right to return home.

“I’m an Ebira woman; this is my land. I’m the daughter of the late Jimoh Abdul Akpoti. I know my roots; I am not a bastard, and I’m not afraid of anybody,” Akpoti-Uduaghan declared at her homecoming event.

Earlier, the Kogi State Commissioner of Police had urged the senator to cancel her planned Sallah rally, citing concerns that it violated the governor’s ban and could cause unrest.

He also referenced intelligence reports suggesting that the rally might attract hoodlums.

Moreover, Amoka Monday, the Local Government Chairman of Okehi LGA, imposed a curfew in the area, warning that any gathering or loitering would result in arrests and legal action.

Despite these measures, Akpoti-Uduaghan maintained her stance, stating that she would proceed with her homecoming and hold the Kogi State Governor, the Police, and Senate President Godswill Akpabio accountable if any violence ensued.
