Eedris Abdulkareem: Tinubu is a great father to seyi, but the worst president for Nigerians
Veteran Nigerian rapper Eedris Abdulkareem has criticized President Bola Tinubu, describing him as a devoted father to his son, Seyi Tinubu, but a poor leader for the Nigerian people.
His comments come just days after the National Broadcasting Commission (NBC) banned his latest song, Tell Your Papa, from being played on radio and television.
In a memo dated April 9, 2025, and signed by the Coordinating Director of Broadcast Monitoring, Susan Obi, the NBC cited violations of broadcast decency standards, classifying the song as “Not To Be Broadcast” (NTBB) under Section 3.1.8 of the Nigeria Broadcasting Code.
The section prohibits content deemed inappropriate or offensive from being aired on public platforms.
In a recent interview on Channels TV, Abdulkareem revealed that the inspiration for the song came from a video of Seyi Tinubu campaigning for his father, where he repeatedly described him as the best president.
“He said it more than six times,” Abdulkareem stated.
“Honestly, he looks better when he’s silent than when he speaks.
I’d advise him to hand the mic to the MC next time.
He doesn’t have the charisma or awareness to accurately represent the current economic hardship Nigerians are facing.”
Abdulkareem further remarked, “Tinubu is a great father to Seyi, but he’s the worst president to Nigerians.
He has empowered his son, but he has failed to empower the people by creating jobs or ensuring food security.”
