An Edo State High Court in Igarra, Akoko-Edo Local Government Area, has nullified the impeachment of the local government chairman, Taju Alade, declaring the action illegal.

Delivering judgment on Wednesday, Justice B. A. Okoh ordered Alade’s immediate reinstatement and instructed the Inspector General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun, to ensure his safety as he returns to office.

The court also ruled that it had the jurisdiction to hear the case, dismissing the state government’s objection on that ground.
