Businesswoman Aisha Achimugu was brought before the Federal High Court in Abuja on Wednesday by operatives of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), in compliance with a court directive.

Achimugu, accompanied by two female EFCC officials, arrived at the courthouse around 11:35 a.m.

She was declared wanted by the EFCC in March over allegations of criminal conspiracy and money laundering.

Justice I.E. Ekwo of the Federal High Court had on Monday ordered Achimugu to present herself to the EFCC on Tuesday and appear in court on Wednesday, April 30, 2025.

According to reports, EFCC operatives arrested Achimugu early Tuesday morning at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport in Abuja, shortly after her arrival from London.

Her lawyer, Chief Chikaosolu Ojukwu, confirmed the arrest and stated that his client returned voluntarily to Nigeria.

He criticized the EFCC’s actions, arguing that the arrest violated a subsisting court order.
