A Jos Magistrates’ Court on Friday sentenced a 22-year-old trader, Shederack Danlami, to four months in prison for stealing two chickens.

Magistrate Shawomi Bokkos delivered the sentence following Danlami’s guilty plea in a summary trial.

The court also gave him the option of paying a fine of N20,000 instead of serving the prison term.

In addition, the magistrate ordered the convict to pay N20,000 in compensation to the complainant.

According to the prosecutor, Inspector Daniel Longwal, the theft was reported on March 25 by a group of vigilantes at the Anglo-Jos Police Station.
