The Commissioner of Police in Benue State, Dr. Ifeanyi Emenari, has ordered a thorough investigation into the shooting of Emmanuella Ahenjir, a 200-level student of Business Management at the Federal University Wukari.

Ahenjir was reportedly shot on Friday morning in the Wurukum area of Makurdi by unidentified police officers during a stop-and-search operation.

She was a passenger in a vehicle that came under police fire.

The incident has sparked public outrage, with several civil society organizations and advocacy groups threatening mass protests if justice is not served by next Tuesday.

In a statement issued by the Command’s Public Relations Officer, CSP Catherine Anene, the police assured the public that the matter would be fully investigated.

The Commissioner pledged to uncover the facts and ensure accountability.
