A 34-year-old man, Ahmed Kuya, was on Wednesday arraigned before an Ikeja Magistrates’ Court for allegedly stealing two MacBook laptops valued at N16.5 million.
Kuya, whose residential address was not disclosed, is facing a one-count charge of stealing.
According to the prosecutor, Superintendent Josephine Ikhayere, the defendant allegedly committed the offence in March 2025 at Computer Village in Ikeja, Lagos.
She stated that Kuya stole two laptops with serial numbers HPFW47J95M and F4GRXJK00K—both 14-inch MacBook Pro M4 models with 24GB RAM.
The laptops reportedly belonged to one Oluwaseun Olamide.
Ikhayere told the court that the offence contravenes Section 287(5)(a)(b)(c) of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015. She requested an adjournment to allow time to review the case file and prepare witnesses.
The defendant pleaded not guilty to the charge.
Magistrate L. A. Owolabi granted bail in the sum of N350,000, with two reliable sureties in the same amount.
The sureties must be gainfully employed, present proof of tax payments, and have their addresses verified.
The case was adjourned to June 3 for hearing.
