Three people lost their lives and six others sustained injuries on Wednesday in a multiple-vehicle crash on the Lagos-Abeokuta Expressway, according to the Ogun State Traffic Compliance and Enforcement Corps (TRACE).

The South-West Area Commander of TRACE, Adekunle Ajibade, confirmed that the accident occurred around 7:45 a.m. near the Sango-Ota tollgate.

Ajibade explained that a cement truck, reportedly travelling at high speed, suffered a brake failure and crashed into four other vehicles. The truck had no visible registration number.

Six people were injured in the crash and were taken to Ifo General Hospital for treatment. The bodies of the three deceased victims were also deposited at the same hospital’s morgue.

Ajibade urged motorists to regularly maintain their vehicles and avoid speeding to prevent tragic incidents.

“Drivers must ensure their vehicles are roadworthy and avoid reckless driving to save lives,” he said.

He added that all affected vehicles have been cleared from the road to restore normal traffic flow.
