The Lagos State Command of the Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS) has handed over Obi Levi Obieze, a suspect wanted for serious crimes, to the Lagos State Police Command for further investigation.
The police confirmed the handover on Friday through a statement shared by the Lagos Police Public Relations Officer, CSP Benjamin Hundeyin, on X (formerly Twitter).
“ONGOING: @nigimmigration, Lagos State Command hands over wanted suspect, Obi Levi Obieze, to @LagosPoliceNG at the Police Command Headquarters, Ikeja,” the statement read.
Obieze, also known as Levi Obu Onyeka, was apprehended on May 29, 2025, by immigration officers at the Gbaji checkpoint on the Badagry-Seme Road.
He was reportedly attempting to escape the country on a motorcycle.
Authorities said his arrest followed credible intelligence linking him to the abduction and alleged ritual killing of a 13-year-old girl in Isiagu Community, Enugu State.
According to a statement from the Nigeria Immigration Service spokesperson, ACI AS Akinlabi, the suspect was declared wanted by the Enugu State Police Command in connection with the incident.
Obieze, a native doctor from Umuajor village in Enugu, was allegedly part of a group of three men who abducted the young girl on May 27 while she was walking to the farm with her father.
She was later rescued from a shrine reportedly associated with Obieze.
The NIS confirmed his identity through a National Identity Management Commission slip found in his possession.
During initial questioning, the suspect also allegedly confessed to the crimes.
