A man identified as Adamu Muhammed Tenimu collapsed in shock at the Federal University Teaching Hospital, Lokoja, Kogi State, on Friday after learning that his wife had delivered a set of triplets.

According to eyewitnesses, Tenimu was overwhelmed with emotion upon hearing the unexpected news and fainted shortly after the delivery.

Hospital staff and sympathisers quickly attended to him, and he was revived without incident.

The new mother and her three daughters, born weighing 1.8kg, 2.0kg, and 2.3kg respectively, are in stable condition and under observation in the hospital’s neonatal unit.

Speaking to journalists after regaining consciousness, Tenimu—an unemployed man—described his joy as being clouded by anxiety over the family’s financial situation.

“I thank God for this miracle, but I’m confused and sad. We weren’t prepared for triplets.

I don’t even have the means to pay the hospital bills, let alone provide for three babies,” he said tearfully.

He explained that due to financial constraints, the pregnancy had not been regularly scanned, and the family had only prepared for a single birth.

“This blessing is huge, but so is the burden. I don’t even have money for diapers or baby food,” he added.

Onlookers confirmed the family’s dire need for support, calling for urgent intervention from the government, NGOs, and the public.

“The babies are healthy, but this family urgently needs medical supplies and financial help,” a relative said.

Friends and concerned members of the community have launched a public appeal for assistance.

Mr. Nuhu Alhassan, a colleague, urged the Kogi State Government and the Ministry of Women Affairs and Social Development to provide aid, describing Tenimu as a responsible and hardworking individual.

Philanthropic individuals and organisations have also been encouraged to contribute baby items, food, and funds. “The joy of childbirth shouldn’t be overshadowed by fear of survival.

We must support this family,” said Sikiru Olamide.
