On Monday, Ademuyiwa Femi, 65, was arraigned before the Ota Magistrates’ Court on charges of stealing an iron gate valued at N100,000.

Femi faces a two-count charge of stealing and malicious damage, according to the prosecutor, E.O. Adaraloye.

The offences reportedly occurred on May 25 at around 10:00 p.m. in Itele Awori, Ota.

The prosecutor alleged that Femi, along with accomplices who remain at large, conspired to steal the iron gate belonging to the complainant, Adekunle Kehinde. During the attempted theft, they also damaged a fence.

The charges are brought under Sections 390(9) and 451 of the Criminal Code Law of Ogun, 2006.

The defendant pleaded not guilty to the allegations.

Magistrate O.O. Fadairo granted Femi bail set at N50,000, with one surety of similar amount.

The surety is required to reside within the court’s jurisdiction, be gainfully employed, and provide proof of tax payment to the Ogun government.

The case was adjourned until June 16 for further hearing.
