The Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria (ICAN) has officially inaugurated Haruna Yahaya as its 61st president.
The investiture ceremony took place on Tuesday at the institute’s headquarters in Lagos.
Yahaya takes over from Davidson Alaribe, who served as the 60th president. In his valedictory address, Alaribe highlighted key achievements during his tenure, including the expansion of ICAN’s national presence through the establishment of 26 District Societies, 24 of which were formally inaugurated.
The event was attended by several dignitaries, including the Governor of Lagos State, Babajide Sanwo-Olu—represented by the state’s Accountant-General, Dr. Abiodun Muritala.
Other notable attendees included the Deputy Governor of Jigawa State, Aminu Usman; Attorney General of Jigawa State, Abdulqadir Fanini; Executive Secretary of the Financial Reporting Council of Nigeria, Dr. Rabiu Olowo; President of the Association of National Accountants of Nigeria, Zuwaira Kishimi; and President of the Chartered Institute of Bankers of Nigeria, Professor Pius Olanrewaju.
