Two suspected traffic robbers notorious for targeting motorists in the Ketu and Mile 12 areas of Lagos have been arrested by operatives of the Lagos State Rapid Response Squad (RRS).
The suspects, identified as 33-year-old Yemi Aparaojo, also known as Asa, and 37-year-old Samuel Adekunle, alias Omo-jo-Ibo, were apprehended around 11 a.m. on Tuesday after one of their previous victims spotted and identified Aparaojo, alerting nearby RRS officers.
Preliminary investigations revealed that Aparaojo is an ex-convict who was recently released from the Kirikiri Maximum Security Prison after serving a six-and-a-half-year sentence.
His accomplice, Adekunle, has reportedly been on the police watchlist for his involvement in a series of daytime robberies in the Ajelogo and Ketu areas.
Police sources disclosed that the duo, along with two yet-to-be-arrested accomplices, had recently assaulted and robbed a passerby of ₦25,000 under the guise of requesting help.
When the victim hesitated, they allegedly attacked him and forcefully took the money.
RRS Commander, CSP Sola Jejeloye, confirmed the arrests and noted that the operation aligns with the directive of the Lagos State Commissioner of Police, CP Moshood Jimoh, to intensify security and crack down on crime-prone areas across the state.
