Indian authorities have arraigned a Nigerian national, Echzoaa Ezeawna Rio Abrnr, before a magistrate court in Mohali, Punjab, following his arrest for drug trafficking.

Abrnr was apprehended on Monday by the Punjab Police at a checkpoint near Golden Estate, Sector 115, Khooni Majra, Kharar.

He was allegedly found in possession of 540 grams of cocaine, along with Rs 10,000 in cash, a backpack, eight large and ten small empty sachets, a digital weighing scale, a steel spoon, rubber bands, and a roll of tape labeled “Zomato.”

According to The Indian Express, police identified Abrnr as a native of Awka, Imo State, Nigeria.

Senior Superintendent of Police Harmandeep Hans disclosed that the suspect primarily targeted college and university students in the region for drug distribution.

“Preliminary interrogation reveals he brought the entire consignment from the NCR-Delhi area and focused on students in Kharar,” Hans said.

Following his arrest, Abrnr was remanded in police custody for two days.

Authorities have also seized his mobile phone and handed it over to forensic experts as part of efforts to uncover the broader drug network.
