The Ogun State Police Command has arrested a man, Oluwatobiloba Kehinde, for allegedly threatening a resident with a locally made pistol in the Agbena area of Abeokuta.
Police spokesperson SP Omolola Odutola disclosed in a statement on Sunday that the arrest followed a distress call from the victim on Saturday.
The incident reportedly occurred on Friday around 6 p.m. while the victim was returning from a football field.
According to the police, Kehinde confronted the victim and demanded money, threatening to harm him if he refused.
The situation escalated when two accomplices arrived on a motorcycle and joined in assaulting the victim, who eventually escaped.
However, Kehinde allegedly traced the victim to his family home, where he continued the threats while armed with a locally made pistol.
Police operatives responded swiftly to the report, arrested the suspect, and recovered the weapon.
Odutola confirmed that preliminary investigations are underway and promised that further updates would be provided.
