There was a sense of relief across Adamawa State over the weekend following the recovery of two missing children by the state police command in Song and Mayo-Belwa Local Government Areas.
In a statement issued on Sunday, the Command’s Public Relations Officer, SP Suleiman Nguroje, said a 12-year-old boy, Hamza Abdullahi, was found on June 29, 2025, by a Good Samaritan and brought to the Divisional Police Headquarters in Song LGA.
According to the statement, another boy, identified as Idrisu Abdullahi and believed to be between eight and nine years old, was located a day earlier, June 28, by police officers in Mayo-Belwa LGA.
“Hamza said he is from Dakoro village in Dukku LGA of Gombe State and was discovered near an internally displaced persons (IDP) camp in Song,” Nguroje said.
“Idrisu, on the other hand, said he came to Yola from Maiha with his mother, Amrat Abdullahi, but was later found wandering near Mbilla Primary Secondary School in Mayo-Belwa.”
The Commissioner of Police, CP Dankombo Morris, has appealed to the public to assist in reuniting the children with their families.
He also voiced concern over the growing trend of parents neglecting their responsibilities, which often puts children in vulnerable and dangerous situations.
