The Ondo State Police Command has taken into custody a man identified as Gabriel Pius for allegedly killing his brother during a quarrel at their residence in Idanre.
This was disclosed by the Commissioner of Police, Adebowale Lawal, during a press briefing held on Friday, July 4, 2025, at the Command Headquarters in Akure.
Lawal explained that the tragic incident happened on June 27 at around 8:00 p.m. when a heated disagreement broke out between the suspect and the deceased, Abu Simon, aged 22.
According to him, the altercation turned violent, leading to Abu being fatally stabbed.
The matter was reported to the police by another family member, Gabriel Michael. Officers from the Idanre Division swiftly moved in to arrest the suspect, who is now in custody.
The Commissioner noted that the case has been handed over to the State Criminal Investigation Department (CID) for further investigation.
He confirmed that the suspect will face prosecution once the investigation is completed.
Lawal urged the public to remain peaceful, comply with the law, and assist the police with reliable information that could help prevent crimes and ensure community safety.
