The Lagos State Independent Electoral Commission (LASIEC) has declared candidates of the All Progressives Congress (APC) winners of the chairmanship elections in Epe, Eredo, and Ibeju-Lekki Local Government Areas.
The results were announced late Saturday night, around 11:55 p.m., at the respective local government secretariats.
In Epe Local Government, the Returning Officer, Prof. Habeeb Sanni, declared APC candidate, Surah Animashaun, winner after polling 34,819 votes. She defeated the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), which garnered 1,535 votes, and the Labour Party, which received 675 votes.
“Having satisfied the requirements of the law and scored the highest number of valid votes, I hereby declare Ms Surah Animashaun as the duly elected chairman of Epe LG,” Sanni stated.
In Eredo Local Council Development Area, Dr. Afolabi Onasanya, the Returning Officer, announced Monsuru Akinloye of the APC as winner, with 25,017 votes. The PDP trailed behind with 424 votes.
Similarly, in Ibeju-Lekki Local Government, Returning Officer Bankole Oduntan declared APC’s Sesan Olowa winner with 59,342 votes. The PDP and Labour Party received 740 and 45 votes respectively.
All three candidates were declared duly elected after meeting legal requirements and securing the majority of valid votes.
