A 42-year-old man, Taiwo Hammed, was on Wednesday brought before the Iyaganku Magistrates’ Court in Ibadan, Oyo State, over allegations of phone theft.

Hammed, whose home address was not disclosed, is facing charges of conspiracy and stealing. He pleaded not guilty to both counts.

According to the prosecutor, Cpl Helen Ojo, the incident occurred on July 12 around 4:30 p.m. at the Ring Road area of Ibadan.

She alleged that Hammed, along with others still at large, stole a mobile phone valued at ₦130,000 from one Timothy Akinwale and another Tecno phone worth ₦90,000 from one Gabriel Taiwo.

The alleged offences violate Sections 516 and 390(9) of the Criminal Laws of Oyo State, 2000.

Magistrate M.M. Olagbenro granted the defendant bail in the sum of ₦100,000 with two sureties in like amount. The case was adjourned to September 22 for hearing.
