Armed bandits have kidnapped four people and looted several shops during an attack on Gyale Village in Mansur District, Alkaleri Local Government Area of Bauchi State.
The incident occurred on Sunday, July 20, 2025, when the attackers reportedly gained access to the village through the Yankari Game Reserve.
Spokesperson for the Bauchi State Police Command, SP Ahmed Wakil, confirmed the incident, stating that the bandits ransacked five local provision shops and abducted four residents.
The kidnapped victims have been identified as Tasiu Malam Yahaya (32), Hakilu Ubayo (15), Abdul Aziz Suleiman (28), and Rabiu Ganjua (16).
Upon receiving a distress call, the state Commissioner of Police, Sani Omolori-Aliyu, directed the Divisional Police Officer in Alkaleri to collaborate with other security outfits—including vigilantes and special hunters—for an immediate response.
“A combined team was swiftly mobilized to the area. While the situation is now calm, our operatives are still searching the surrounding bushes to locate and rescue the kidnapped victims,” Wakil said.
He added that efforts are ongoing to track down and arrest those responsible for the attack.
The Commissioner of Police also reassured the public that the command is committed to restoring peace and ensuring the safe return of the abducted individuals.
Residents of the affected area are reportedly going about their normal activities under increased security surveillance.
