The West African Examinations Council (WAEC) has acknowledged errors in the marking of serialised objective questions in the 2025 West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE).
The admission was made on Friday during a media briefing, coming just days after the council abruptly shut down its result-checker portal on Wednesday, citing “technical issues.”
The announcement, which was first made via WAEC’s official X handle, @waecnigeria, has intensified public criticism.
Many Nigerians have expressed outrage over the poor performance recorded in the examination, particularly in English Language, with some linking the results to the marking flaws.
