Troops of Operation Safe Haven (OPSH) have arrested a man in Plateau State for impersonating a soldier and attempting to defraud the family of a notorious gunrunner currently in custody.

In a statement issued on Saturday, OPSH said the suspect posed as one of its personnel and collected ₦400,000 from the family under the pretext of halting investigations and securing the suspect’s release.

According to the statement, the deceit was quickly uncovered by OPSH operatives, leading to the man’s arrest.

“He falsely claimed that he could stop the ongoing investigation and free the suspect from custody.

His fraudulent scheme was promptly exposed by our operatives,” the statement read.

OPSH described the arrest as proof of its commitment to professionalism, transparency, and a zero-tolerance stance on corruption.
