A man identified only as Hope has been hacked to death in the Alaba area of Lagos State, allegedly by members of the Eiye Confraternity.
The incident, captured in disturbing videos circulating on social media, is the latest in a wave of cult-related violence that has claimed several lives across the state in recent weeks.
One clip, obtained from the Telegram channel, Naija Confra, shows the victim seated on the ground during an interrogation, introducing himself as “Hope” and stating that he lived on Abanise Street.
A second, shorter video depicts him lying motionless with deep machete wounds to his neck and face.
The footage has sparked outrage online, with acquaintances describing the victim as a quiet and easygoing man.
Social media users expressed shock and sorrow, calling for urgent action to stem the growing menace of cult violence.
When contacted, Lagos State Police Command spokesperson, SP Benjamin Hundeyin, did not respond to enquiries on whether any arrests had been made.
The killing follows a similar incident on July 19, when gunmen shot dead a man in Ojo-Igbede, forcing him to kneel before opening fire.
