The National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Prof. Nentawe Yilwatda, has lost his mother, Mama Lydia Yilwatda.
She passed away on Sunday morning at the Jos University Teaching Hospital at the age of 83.
Confirming her death in a statement issued in Jos, the APC Publicity Secretary in Plateau State, Shittu Bamaiyi, described the late Mama Lydia as a devoted Christian, a virtuous leader, and a pillar of the Church of Christ in Nations (COCIN).
“The news of Mama Lydia’s death is not only a personal loss to Prof. Yilwatda, but also to the APC family in Plateau State and Nigeria at large,” the statement read.
According to the party, Mama Lydia, alongside her late husband, Reverend Toma Goshewe Yilwatda, contributed significantly to the growth of the church across Borno, Yobe, Bauchi, and Plateau states.
The statement added that her passing was particularly painful as her guidance and prayers were still much needed by her family and the church community.
“Her demise is a great loss to the church, the women’s fellowship, and Plateau State.
The consoling record is that she left behind an indelible legacy manifested in her children,” the APC said, while praying for the repose of her soul.
