A 23-year-old man, Oki Segun, has been remanded by an Iwaro-Oka Magistrates’ Court in Ondo State for allegedly assaulting a lawyer, Kolapo Inumo, with a shovel.
Segun was arraigned before Magistrate B.A. Ikusika on a two-count charge bordering on assault and obstruction of police arrest.
According to the prosecutor, Inspector Kehinde Emmanuel, the incident occurred on August 10, 2025, at about 8:00 a.m. at Abisi Quarters, Oka Akoko.
He alleged that the defendant struck the lawyer on the forehead during the altercation and later resisted arrest.
The offences, Emmanuel said, contravened Section 383(1) and are punishable under Section 332 of the Criminal Code, Cap 37, Vol. I, Laws of Ondo State of Nigeria, 2006.
The court noted that the defendant had no legal representation.
In his ruling, Magistrate Ikusika ordered that Segun be remanded in custody and adjourned the case until August 20, 2025.
