The management of Olivet College of Health Technology, Azuba, in Lafia Local Government Area of Nasarawa State, says it has uncovered more than eleven persons allegedly parading themselves as students of the institution and using its official letterheads at medical laboratory facilities across the state.

The Proprietor of the college, Dr. Abu Cletus, disclosed this at a press briefing on Wednesday in Lafia, calling on security agencies and regulatory bodies to investigate the development.

According to him, the management became aware of the fraudulent activities after reports emerged that some supposed students of the Medical Laboratory Technology Department were being redirected to another health college in Nasarawa Eggon.

“Further checks showed that individuals not enrolled in our college were attending practical sessions in some medical laboratory facilities, presenting forged letterheads of our institution,” he said.

Dr. Cletus revealed that in Lafia, four fake students used a letterhead bearing the school’s name, address, and departmental stamp but omitted its website, while in Akwanga, non-students were added to an official posting list.

In Keffi, he said, seven impostors were included alongside ten genuine students, all using the school’s letterhead and departmental stamp.

He added that when questioned, the suspects claimed to belong to a non-existent Nasarawa Eggon branch of the college. “Olivet College has no branch and no distance learning programme. We operate solely from Azuba,” he stressed.

Dr. Cletus cautioned the public against dealing with individuals posing as staff of the institution, warning that all legitimate transactions are handled only through the administration office.

He confirmed that the matter has been reported to the Nigeria Police Force, the Department of State Services, the Nasarawa State Ministry of Health, the Medical Laboratory Council of Nigeria, and the Association of Medical Laboratory Scientists for further investigation.
