A suspected cult clash has claimed the life of a young man in Agbarho, Ughelli North Local Government Area of Delta State, heightening fears among residents.
The victim, identified by locals as Emuobo, was found dead on the road leading to Oka Market. His brother, who arrived at the scene, was overheard on a phone call announcing the tragic incident.
Sources said the killing might be linked to a reprisal, as another youth was reportedly shot dead in a different part of the town on Tuesday. “This could be a revenge act,” one resident told Vanguard.
Tension has gripped the community since Sunday, with residents fleeing in panic during violent incursions by suspected cultists, particularly around Ekwvere Road on Tuesday.
At the time of filing this report, the atmosphere in Agbarho remained tense.
Efforts to reach the Police Public Relations Officer, Bright Edafe, for comment were unsuccessful.
