Two operatives of the Ondo State Security Network Agency, codenamed Amotekun Corps, have been arrested for allegedly stealing cocoa pods in Idanre Local Government Area of the state.

The suspects, identified as 45-year-old Ajayi Adebusuyi and 42-year-old Oluwadare Olubodun, were reportedly caught on a farm at Gbalegi Camp, Idanre, during a routine inspection.

According to reports, the farm caretaker, Friday Abbah, had laid a trap following repeated cases of cocoa theft.

The two officers were allegedly nabbed while harvesting cocoa pods, which were later recovered as evidence.

They were subsequently handed over to the police at the Idanre Divisional Headquarters by local residents.

Police spokesperson, DSP Olayinka Ayanlade, confirmed the arrests, noting that the case followed a series of complaints from farm managers in the area.

He disclosed that investigators also found heaps of empty cocoa pods on the farm, suggesting the theft had been ongoing.

The suspects, he added, are in custody and the case has been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department for further investigation.
