The Oyo State Police Command has arrested two suspects in connection with the armed robbery of a couple in Ibadan, during which jewellery, mobile phones, and millions of naira were stolen.
Police spokespersons confirmed that the incident occurred on June 15, 2025, around 3 p.m., when three armed men accosted Dotun Agaba (not his real name) and his wife outside their residence in the Bashorun area.
The couple was forced into their home at gunpoint, where the gang made away with gold jewellery valued at about ₦7.5 million, an iPhone 13, an iPhone 16 Pro Max, and other items.
The robbers also compelled the victims to transfer ₦4.5 million into an accomplice’s account before fleeing on a motorbike.
The case was reported to the Ikolaba Police Division and later transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department in Iyaganku for further probe.
Following investigations, operatives tracked and arrested the suspected gang leader, 35-year-old Omole Ridwan, and a 45-year-old female accomplice, Adegbile Adewumi, whose bank account was used for the money transfer.
During the arrest on September 3, police recovered an AK-47 rifle with breach No. 1057, an empty magazine, a double-barrel pistol, a homemade firearm, an axe, and two cutlasses allegedly used in the crime.
Both suspects reportedly confessed to their roles in the robbery and provided information to aid the arrest of other gang members still at large.
The police assured that investigations are ongoing and more details will be made public in due course.
