The Zamfara State chapter of the All Progressives Congress has lashed out at Senator Kabiru Garba Marafa for declaring that he would work against President Bola Tinubu’s re-election bid in 2027.

Marafa, in a recent television interview, vowed to do everything possible to ensure Tinubu’s defeat, claiming he could mobilise up to one million votes against the President.

Reacting in a statement on Thursday, the Zamfara APC chairman, Tukur Umar Danfulani, dismissed the remarks as “laughable” and “impossible,” citing Marafa’s political setbacks since losing his Senate seat in the 2023 elections.

“It is laughable that Marafa, who couldn’t win his ward of Yandoton Daji, his local government of Tsafe, or his senatorial district, could boast of reducing one million votes from President Tinubu’s tally in 2023,” Danfulani said.

He questioned where Marafa would source such votes, noting that the entire Zamfara electorate in 2023 did not reach one million. “We know he is just a lame dog that can only bark but without teeth to bite,” he added.

Danfulani further argued that Marafa’s statements stemmed from frustration over his electoral defeat and failure to secure a federal appointment.

He said people of Zamfara had already “concluded on him electorally” and challenged the former senator to test his popularity in the state.

“Even his family will not follow him,” Danfulani said, adding that Zamfara APC remains “formidable, united, and focused on victory” ahead of future elections.

He stressed that the party would ordinarily not have responded but chose to react because Marafa “touched the President in an uncivilised manner.”
