Former President Goodluck Jonathan on Thursday hosted the 2023 Labour Party presidential candidate, Peter Obi, in a closed-door meeting in Abuja.

Mr Obi confirmed the meeting in a post on his official X handle, where he described Dr Jonathan as an “elder brother, statesman, and leader.” He noted that their discussions centred on national concerns and the state of the country.

“Today in Abuja, I met with my very dear elder brother, statesman, and leader, former President Goodluck Jonathan.

We had a fruitful closed-door meeting and discussed the state of our dear nation,” Mr Obi wrote.

Details of the discussions were not disclosed, and it remains unclear whether the 2027 presidential election featured in their talks.
