Osun PDP petitions Police, DSS over alleged threats by APC Senator

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Osun State has petitioned the Inspector-General of Police and the Department of State Services, accusing Senator Francis Adenigba Fadahunsi of intimidation and threats following his defection to the All Progressives Congress (APC).

In the petition dated September 5 and acknowledged by the police on September 8, the PDP leadership, including state chairman Sunday Bisi and director of administration Mustapha Sikiru, alleged that the senator threatened them for challenging his defection in court.

The petition, signed by the party’s counsel Raphael Oyewole, claimed Fadahunsi placed a threatening call to one of the officials, speaking in Yoruba before the statements were later translated into English.

According to Oyewole, the remarks contained insults, intimidation, and a clear threat of grievous harm.

The PDP noted that it had filed five separate suits before the Federal High Court in Abuja challenging the defections of its lawmakers, with Fadahunsi named as a defendant.

The party argued that instead of submitting to due legal process, the senator resorted to harassment.

Citing Section 86 of the Criminal Code Act, Oyewole stressed that it is a criminal offence to threaten injury to a person, reputation, or property with the intent to cause alarm or obstruct lawful action.

He urged security agencies to act promptly to protect his clients and their families.

Fadahunsi, alongside four other Osun lawmakers—Senator Olubiyi Fadeyi, Omirin Olusanya, Taofeek Ajilesoro, and Oluwole Oke—recently defected from the PDP to the APC, a move that has deepened political tension in the state.
