A man was killed and his wife seriously injured when suspected armed herders attacked Tse Akor Gbatse village in Mbamar Clan, Nyiev Council Ward of Guma Local Government Area, Benue State.

Another woman, identified as Mrs. Mbagbedi Tsetim, also sustained severe injuries during the incident, which occurred around 11:45 a.m. while the victims were working on their farm.

Residents said several other farmers were still missing as of Sunday following the invasion. The deceased was identified as Mr. Tachia Akor.

His wife and Tsetim were rushed to Adi Hospital in Daudu for treatment.

A community source, Jonah, alleged that some of the attackers had been sighted hiding in deserted villages within the local government area.

The Benue State Police Command confirmed the incident.

Spokesperson DSP Edeme Udet said operatives had been deployed to the area to restore calm.

“Yes, we were informed. Immediately we received the report, our men were deployed, and investigations have commenced. Normalcy has returned to the area,” Udet said.
