The Ondo State Police Command has arrested a woman, Iluyemi Bosede, for allegedly causing the death of her elder sister during a fight over ₦800 in Akure.
In a statement issued on Monday, the Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Ayanlade Olayinka Olushola, said the incident happened on September 6 at about 8:00 pm.
Olushola explained that Bosede demanded money from her 35-year-old sister, Tewogboye Omowumi, for tomatoes and pepper. The quarrel later turned violent, and the suspect allegedly pulled her sister by the clothes, making her fall.
“She was quickly taken to the hospital but was confirmed dead on arrival,” the statement read.
Commissioner of Police, CP Adebowale Lawal, described the development as regrettable and advised residents to shun violence in resolving issues.
“Minor disagreements can lead to fatal consequences when not peacefully managed. We encourage members of the public to always embrace dialogue,” he said.
Lawal noted that the case is being investigated and assured that justice would take its full course.
