The Nigeria Police Force has arrested six suspects in connection with the recent deadly attack on police tactical teams in the Katsina-Ala/Ukum area of Benue State.

Force Public Relations Officer, CSP Benjamin Hundeyin, confirmed in a statement on Sunday that the assault, carried out on September 19 by suspected armed herdsmen and local militias, left three officers dead while seven remain missing.

According to the statement, the detained suspects are already providing useful information to investigators.

Inspector-General of Police Kayode Egbetokun has also ordered the deployment of additional tactical assets to the area, pledging that “no stone will be left unturned” in restoring peace and security.

The Force urged residents to remain calm and cooperate with security agencies as operations continue.

The attack comes amid wider violence in the state. Reports indicate that 16 people were killed in separate incidents across Makurdi and Katsina-Ala local government areas the same day.

Six residents were reportedly slain in Abagena and Asom communities of Makurdi during early morning raids, while 10 security operatives were killed in Katsina-Ala.
