The Ondo State Police Command has arrested a 27-year-old man, Toheeb Ahmed, for allegedly killing his grandmother in Ore, Odigbo Local Government Area of the state.

Ahmed, a carpenter, was reportedly picked up by operatives at the Aiyegbami area of the community after residents raised suspicion over his movements.

The motive behind the alleged attack has not yet been established.

A resident who raised the alarm said the suspect had been frequenting the victim’s home at odd hours since last Thursday.

According to him, Ahmed walked into his shop on Tuesday morning and casually said, “Mama is dead,” before warning him not to inform anyone.

“Out of curiosity, I went into Mama’s room and discovered she had been hacked to death.

When he returned with a cutlass and a friend, apparently to move the corpse, I raised the alarm,” the resident recounted.

Spokesperson of the command, Olayinka Ayanlade, confirmed the incident, adding that the suspect was in custody. “It happened truly, and we have arrested the suspect while the investigation into it has started,” he said.
