Panic gripped residents of Ibeto in Magama Local Government Area of Niger State on Wednesday morning as bandits reportedly launched another attack on the community.
The incident was disclosed by security analyst and X user, Bakatsine, who said the assailants “returned to Ibeto again” and were “currently in the town.”
In a post, he wrote: “Bandits are currently in Ibeto community, Magama LGA of Niger State, shooting sporadically.
The recent wave of attacks in the Zone C region of Niger State needs urgent government attention.”
This fresh assault comes barely 24 hours after similar gunfire was reported in the same community, sparking fears of escalating violence in the North Central region, particularly across Niger, Kogi and Kwara states.
As of press time, efforts to obtain an official response from the Niger State Police Command and the state government had not been successful.
