Armed men suspected to be bandits have kidnapped two serving councillors and a Chief Imam in Zamfara State.

The victims were identified as Surajo Dangaladima, councillor representing Gidan Goga Ward, and Rabi’u Bashari, councillor for Tsubiri Ward, both in Maradun Local Government Area.

They were taken alongside the Chief Imam of Tsunami Quarters in Gusau on Wednesday night.

Confirming the incident, Chairman of Maradun Local Government Council, Hon. Sanusi Dosara, clarified that the abduction occurred in Gusau and not within Maradun.

He explained that the attackers had initially targeted a resident of Kaura-Namoda but, failing to find him, seized the councillors and the Imam instead.

The spokesperson of the Zamfara State Police Command, DSP Yazid Abubakar, also confirmed the abduction.

He said the command had deployed additional personnel to the area while efforts were ongoing to track the assailants and rescue the victims.

Abubakar further urged residents to cooperate with security agencies by providing timely information that could help prevent criminal activities in their communities.
