President Bola Tinubu has written to the Senate, requesting the confirmation of Professor Joash Amupitan as Chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
The request was read by Senate President Godswill Akpabio during Tuesday’s plenary session, along with other communications from the Presidency seeking legislative approval for various appointments.
According to the letter, the nomination complies with the provisions of the 1999 Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria (as amended).
The Senate subsequently referred the request to the Committee of the Whole for consideration.
