The Ondo State Commissioner of Police, Adebowale Lawal, has approved the immediate redeployment of the Divisional Police Officer of Enu Owa Division following his alleged mishandling of a case involving popular social media influencer, Adefolarin Ayomiposi, known as Mandykiss.
The decision came after a viral video showed Mandykiss taking photos and recording videos of suspects while in custody at the division, sparking public criticism over police procedure.
In a statement with reference number AZ:5280/ONS/PPRO/VOL.1/314, signed by the Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Ayanlade Olayinka Olushola, the Command stated that the influencer had personally arrested two women accused of cyberbullying without the presence of police officers.
The statement explained that the influencer handed the suspects over to the police but went further to record and upload their images on her social media pages, an action described as unethical and contrary to policing standards.
Commissioner Lawal said the DPO’s failure to maintain control of the situation showed poor judgment and a breach of professional conduct, adding that such negligence would not be tolerated under his watch.
He reminded officers across the Command that recording or exposing suspects in police custody violates standard procedures and fundamental human rights, urging them to uphold professionalism at all times.
Lawal reaffirmed his commitment to accountability and discipline within the Force and appreciated the Inspector General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun, for his leadership and continued support in promoting effective policing across the country.
