The Jigawa State Police Command has dismantled a suspected drug syndicate, arresting three suspects and seizing more than 13,000 illicit pills along with N400,000 in suspected proceeds across Sara, Bamaina, and Sundimina towns.
This was contained in a statement issued on Monday in Dutse by the command’s Public Relations Officer, SP Shi’isu Adam, who described the coordinated operations as a major success in the fight against drug abuse and trafficking in the state.
Adam said the raids, which were based on credible intelligence, led to the recovery of 13,622 assorted illicit drugs, including Exol, Tramadol, D5 tablets, Rubber Solution, Diazepam, and five blocks of dried leaves suspected to be cannabis.
He added that N441,975 in cash, believed to be proceeds from the illegal trade, was also recovered from the suspects.
The arrested suspects were identified as Yusuf Garba, 30, also known as Bamis, of Sara Kudu Quarters; Muhammad Rufa’i, 40, of Kangire village; and Jibrin Manga, 30, of Nasaru town in Bauchi State’s Ningi Local Government Area.
Adam said preliminary investigations revealed that the trio had been involved in the illicit business for several years, posing a threat to public safety, especially among youths.
In a separate operation on October 23, officers from Hadejia ‘B’ Division arrested a 35-year-old man, Idris Muhammed, of Babbar Ruga in Malam Madori LGA, along Turabu–Hadejia Road, for allegedly transporting three stolen cows traced to Kukareta in Matti LGA, Yobe State.
According to the police, Muhammed confessed that the animals were stolen by one Kaura Dillali, who is currently at large. The suspect is expected to be charged to court.
On the same day, at about 11:12 a.m., operatives from Hadejia ‘A’ Division’s surveillance unit intercepted a suspected receiver of stolen property, identified as Bale, who escaped after abandoning an unregistered Jincheng motorcycle with chassis number LJCPAGALH06SC06496 and engine number LH0606496.
The motorcycle has since been recovered as efforts continue to track down the suspect.
The Commissioner of Police, CP Muhammad Dahiru, commended the Divisional Police Officers and their teams for their efforts, reiterating the command’s commitment to eradicating drug trafficking and related crimes in Jigawa.
He urged residents, community leaders, and parents to continue supporting the police with credible information to help sustain the fight against crime.
